Warhammer 40k at Carluke Wargamers

It’s been months since my last post. This is mostly due to work commitments but I’ve still managed to get myself down to the club every other week. I’ve still got the Naps bug & been playing GDB every chance I get but  managed to organise a nice sized 40k battle the other week.

We put on a good sized table with the objective of loyalist forces holding the fort in the centre of the table. Cheers Big Malky for lending us all of the scenery.

There was a nice mix of forces on the table, I was using my (unfinished) Chaos army that I’m painting up in Iron Warriors Chapter colours with some Daemons thrown in for good measure.

On the other quadrant there were some mean looking Necrons, Unsure what chaper/legion they were are as I’m not clued up on Necron forces.

The Blood Angels took a bit of a beating, if I remember correctly they were holding on 2 fronts. Chaos on one side & Necrons on the other.

Where would a game of 40k be with ought the obligatory Ultra Marines. It was a bit strange in this case that some were on the loyalist side & others supporting the traitors (David).

All in all a fun game, took a few turns to get used to the rules again. I have a copy of the new edition rule set & maybe use them in our next game. Probably a good idea to keep it small scale until we have familiarised ourselves with the new edition.

FYI, the loyalists got humped!

Got a Naps game planned for this weekend & I hope to be using my Austrians. If I remember my camera I will try & get another post in this month. Until next time.

Austrians so far

Hi folks, it’s been a good few weeks since my last post. This is mainly due to me spilling  a glass of wine onto my laptop. So while I haven't had any computer games to distract me, I managed to get my first 48 man battalion of infantry complete.

I’ve even managed to get a start on the second 48 man battalion.

I bought a few already painted battalions from Robert to get me started, this is one Paul took away and gave a coat of army painter, highlighted & stuck on a new base. I put the sand & flock down to add the finishing touches, I’m very impressed with the results.

Hopefully Paul & myself will eventually get the game of GdB we started a few weeks ago complete, work commitments are turning out to be a major hindrance to my new found obsession.

Slowly but surely

I’ve managed to get grass down on one base & sand down on another two.

Over the half way mark now & it's coming along nicely.

Space Marines Love Scotch Eggs!

I was out cutting the grass the other day & got this lovely shot.

I had given my daughter a big bag of my old space marines & caught her feeding them scotch eggs.

First base of Jager

Here is my first ever completed base of Naps.

I was using the super macro on the camera & it has highlighted all the flaws. I will get round to touching them in sooner or later.

I enjoyed every minute of painting these, I've completed 20 figs now & its not got tedious, yet Smile with tongue out

One or two changes

I’ve made a few modifications to my naps I’m painting, it turns out that they weren't upper Austrian Landwehr  but Jager.  They looked very similar in the photos.

What I’m painting.

I've managed to get a whole week of work & decided to spend it between a squad of terminators & some Austrian Landwehr.

This is the first time I have ever painted Naps & I found it quite difficult. The first 2 I didn't like but as I got on to the 3rd one it started to come together a bit more.

Just need a bit more practice. I think these are Upper Austrian Landwehr, I may be wrong though as the book I’m using has some Jager who look very similar to this fig.

Unfinished squad of Crimson Fist Terminators. I was inspired to use this colour scheme when Jamie brought some to the club a few month ago. This will be a nice addition to my Imperial Fists.
