Austrians so far

Hi folks, it’s been a good few weeks since my last post. This is mainly due to me spilling  a glass of wine onto my laptop. So while I haven't had any computer games to distract me, I managed to get my first 48 man battalion of infantry complete.

I’ve even managed to get a start on the second 48 man battalion.

I bought a few already painted battalions from Robert to get me started, this is one Paul took away and gave a coat of army painter, highlighted & stuck on a new base. I put the sand & flock down to add the finishing touches, I’m very impressed with the results.

Hopefully Paul & myself will eventually get the game of GdB we started a few weeks ago complete, work commitments are turning out to be a major hindrance to my new found obsession.

Slowly but surely

I’ve managed to get grass down on one base & sand down on another two.

Over the half way mark now & it's coming along nicely.

Space Marines Love Scotch Eggs!

I was out cutting the grass the other day & got this lovely shot.

I had given my daughter a big bag of my old space marines & caught her feeding them scotch eggs.

First base of Jager

Here is my first ever completed base of Naps.

I was using the super macro on the camera & it has highlighted all the flaws. I will get round to touching them in sooner or later.

I enjoyed every minute of painting these, I've completed 20 figs now & its not got tedious, yet Smile with tongue out

One or two changes

I’ve made a few modifications to my naps I’m painting, it turns out that they weren't upper Austrian Landwehr  but Jager.  They looked very similar in the photos.

What I’m painting.

I've managed to get a whole week of work & decided to spend it between a squad of terminators & some Austrian Landwehr.

This is the first time I have ever painted Naps & I found it quite difficult. The first 2 I didn't like but as I got on to the 3rd one it started to come together a bit more.

Just need a bit more practice. I think these are Upper Austrian Landwehr, I may be wrong though as the book I’m using has some Jager who look very similar to this fig.

Unfinished squad of Crimson Fist Terminators. I was inspired to use this colour scheme when Jamie brought some to the club a few month ago. This will be a nice addition to my Imperial Fists.

Flames of War

It’s been a while since my last update, I just don’t seem to have any time these days.

This is one of the scenarios from the FoW rule book, I think it was the second one. The goal is for the attacker to take an objective in the defenders deployment zone.

This is the first time we had used the FoW rule set, I think I’m going to like it.IMAG0135

Do you think they saw us?

Bailed out & pinned.

One Sherman destroyed, one bogged down & the other firing on the front of a Stugg. My tactics were bad from the start.

Trying to get the AT gun into position.

It was a clear victory for David, there was no stopping the Stuggs.

FoW Yanks

My Flames of War models are coming along nicely, I’ve decided that I’m not going to paint anything else until these are all done. (but I will glue all my Mantic stuff together while the paint dries)

Nearly completed this 3” mortar base. I found that if I keep my fingers wet the green stuff doesn't stick to them as much.

And 5 more bases complete. Just need to get myself some matt or satin varnish.

Some painted armour, just missing the decals. At £6 odd for a small sheet, I’m going to resent every penny. Does anyone know where I can get cheap US decals?

NAPS & 40K

I may get hung for this, I think this was a Napoleonic game.

and a real game.

This game finished with no clear winner, could have gone either way but ran out of time. (that's- my excuse)

Photo showcase

It's been a few weeks since my last update & I have a load of photos, enjoy.
 Some of Stuarts Chaos demons
 Mounted on giant ant eaters:)
This was the first time I had seen anything from the ogre kingdoms faction, very impressive.

The photos are all over the place, the next few are from a Battle for Macragge scenario David & I played out a few weeks ago.

My completed Fow British rifle platoon.
